Summary

Chief of staff and strategy leader with six years on the client side of the table in higher education, a sector whose revenue model is under real pressure. I have taken strategy from adoption to results: a strategic plan adopted unanimously by the board, a redesigned executive operating model, and a revenue engine behind five straight years of growth. I bring order to complexity, then turn it into finished work. The rooms change; the problems do not.

Experience

HOPE COLLEGE· Holland, MI · three roles of increasing scope, 2020 to present

Director, Office of the President & Strategy (Chief of Staff)

Jul 2024 – Present

  • Advise the president and executive leadership team on strategy, investment, and operating decisions for a $120M institution; run a $2M office and lead, coach, and develop 4 direct reports across strategic planning, marketing and public affairs, and executive support
  • Led an 18-month strategic planning effort from first prototype to unanimous Board adoption of Dare to Hope: Strategic Plan 2030, narrowed competing divisional priorities into 3 pillars and 15 initiatives on a five-year roadmap and built the executive and board presentations that carried the decision; the plan anchors a $350M comprehensive campaign
  • Redesigned the executive team's operating model: restructured monthly cabinet meetings into quarterly sessions with defined purpose, instituted weekly leadership meetings with a focused agenda, and added biannual offsites, cutting standing meeting load while improving alignment and decision speed
  • Built scenario models comparing tuition revenue with and without the college's fixed-price tuition guarantee, sizing a multimillion-dollar swing in revenue, and turned the analysis into the business case presented to Trustees
  • Lead executive communications in high-stakes moments: draft statements, sequence the messaging, and coordinate the response across the leadership team

Special Assistant to the President & Board of Trustees

Aug 2022 – Jul 2024

  • Designed the President's Office operating foundation from the ground up: the communication flows, correspondence protocols, and calendar discipline that protect executive time and keep decisions moving
  • Staffed and advised a 25-member governing board: authored a new trustee handbook and ideal-trustee profile, upgraded board-management software for materials and voting, and led director onboarding and officer transitions
  • Founding board member of Hope Forward, a first-of-its-kind donor-funded model that covers full tuition as a gift; helped design the selection process and scale the program from a founding cohort of 20 students to 120 active across four cohorts, with 60 alumni to date

Project & Communications Manager, Enrollment Management

Jan 2020 – Aug 2022

  • Recruited by an incoming vice president to co-lead a ground-up redesign of the division that owns the college's primary revenue line: its structure, decision rights, and daily operations. Delivered a record incoming class of 1,000 students, up roughly 30% from the historical 750 to 800
  • Built the acquisition engine behind the record: a Slate CRM implementation, a lifecycle dashboard tracking every prospect by source and demographic, a new brand, and integrated multi-channel campaigns reaching 50K+ prospects annually
  • Grew volume and price at once: five consecutive years of enrollment growth while net tuition revenue per first-year student rose 18%, from $15,558 (2021) to $18,331 (2025), in a sector where rising discounts usually force a choice between the two; the engine is still running
  • Managed a $4M people-and-operations budget; built and mentored a student intern team spanning recruiting and operations
